His contemporaries regard Kris Menace as one of the best producers and DJ’s of our times. Able to produce one of the finest modern techno tracks, in the shape of ‘Scaler’, while also making sublime disco exemplified in his recent Black Van project on DFA. 2010 has been a ‘eureka’ year for Kris as he has now streamlined his production and DJ sound to take in both these extremes but creating a unifying sound for the dance floors of today … disco techno if you will.
His remix of hot new act Monarchy ‘The Phoenix Alive’ (Mercury) is a perfect example of this new sound and has already had Alex Metric claiming on Radio 1 it is “the best record of the year”. Kris is also recording a series of singles to showcase this new sound to be released on some of the finest dance labels in the world.
Kris’ productions and DJ sets have provided him with an army of fans which reads as a ‘who’s who’ of the best minds in dance music; Simian Mobile Disco, Erol, Tiga, Brodinski, Style Of Eye, Joakim, Crookers, & Boy 8-Bit to name but a few. The list of acts that have called on his remix prowess also tells a story; LCD Soundsystem, Metronomy, Yuksek, Air, Depeche Mode, Filthy Dukes, New Yong Pony Club & Underworld.
Currently, Kris is finishing the Black Van album, a collaboration with KoweSix of Moonbootica, and working on his own first proper artist album and a live set, due for end of 2010.
